The unintended expat blogger behind Willow Mint Ripple

Hello, I’m Ava
I manage projects. I’m a parent. An expat living in Toronto, Canada.
A few years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary assignment gradually opened a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Canada wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were strenuous — unfamiliar systems, fresh routines, elevated expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
Cultural adjustment, ambiguity, and a great deal of learning through experience. Gradually, habits took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Willow Mint Ripple
Most of the information online either came from corporate relocation guides or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap with practical, real-life guidance from Canada.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Canada
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- A resource for tourism authorities
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Canada goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as this information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Toronto or anywhere in Canada, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Ava
